well-rounded

This morning we ventured down to the farmer's market and got all sorts of supplies for a super-Saturday. We started the day with pastries from a French-style (but somehow un-pretentious) bakery, French press coffee, and a fritata made with local eggs. After a brief intermission, we came back to the kitchen to whip up a batch of homemade applesauce, and the whole day ended with warm homemade applesauce and caramel ice cream. Epic... totally epic...

It reaffirms the fact that there is really something to be said for stepping back from the design drawing board and doing other things with your hands. We had a seriously productive day, had a lot of fun, and learned a ton (mostly that applesauce is pretty stinkin' simple and a great way to make the entire house smell awesome.)

We loosely followed the recipe here.
